TOJ – Operating Revenues Improve

Operating Revenues for the six months to September 30, 1997, were $6,584 million – an improvement of 18% over the equivalent period last year. The growth in revenue reflects the continuing build-out of Jamaica’s telecommunications network: 34,000 lines have been installed in the last six months bringing the total number of lines in service to 386,000. Profit after tax grew by 24% during the same period. A further J$2.5 billion has been invested in developing the island’s telecommunications infrastructure. J$4.9 billion is planned for the year with a line installation target of 65,000 net main lines.
